How to ask well
Get better results from MiOSbot: be specific, give context, handle approvals, and follow up in the same session.
MiOSbot works from what you tell it. A clear request gets you a useful result on the first try; a vague one gets you a guess. Use these habits.
Say what you want back
Name the result, not just the topic. Say what form it should take: a table, a short email, a checklist, a one-page summary.
| Instead of | Try |
|---|---|
| “Look into payroll software.” | “Compare three payroll services for a 12-person company in Ohio. Show monthly cost, setup fee, and whether they file state taxes, in a table.” |
| “Write something for our customers.” | “Write a 120-word email telling customers we’re closed December 24–26. Friendly tone, and include our holiday hours after that.” |
| “Help with my calendar.” | “List my meetings next week that have no agenda, and draft a one-line agenda request for each.” |
Give the context MiOSbot can’t guess
Include the details a new assistant would need: who it’s for, deadlines, budget, location, tone, and what you’ve already tried. Attach files with the + control in the message box instead of describing them.
If you repeat the same background often, ask MiOSbot to remember it: “Remember that we only work with clients in Maryland and Virginia.”
Set limits
Tell MiOSbot what not to do, and where to stop:
- “Draft it, but don’t send anything.”
- “Only use the files I attached.”
- “Ask me before you contact anyone.”
Answer questions and approvals promptly
When a session shows Needs you, MiOSbot is waiting on you. Read the request carefully. Allow an action only when the details are exactly right: the recipient, the amount, the wording. If something is off, decline and tell MiOSbot what to change.
Follow up in the same session
The first answer is a starting point. Stay in the same session so MiOSbot keeps the context, and refine:
- “Shorter, and drop the second paragraph.”
- “Good. Now do the same for our Baltimore location.”
- “Where did that price come from? Show me the source.”
Start a new session when you switch to an unrelated task. Mixing topics in one session makes results less focused.
Check the work
MiOSbot can make mistakes. Before you rely on a number, a date, or a claim, open the source it links to or ask it to show its work. Review anything that will go to a customer before it’s sent.
Stop and redirect
If MiOSbot heads the wrong way, select Stop while it’s working, then tell it what you meant. You don’t need to start over.
