Message MiOSbot with iMessage

Before you start

iMessage works when your workspace admin has connected a signed-in Mac for MiOSbot. Ask your workspace admin to connect iMessage and to tell you which phone number or Apple Account address to message.

Start a conversation

1. Open Messages on your iPhone or Mac.
2. Start a new message to the address your admin gave you.
3. Send your request.
4. If this is your first message, you may get a short access code instead of an answer. Your message waits until your workspace admin approves you. See Who can talk to MiOSbot.

After you’re approved, MiOSbot replies in the same chat.

What to ask

• “What time is my call with Dana on Thursday?”
• “Summarize this PDF in five bullet points.” (with the file attached)
• “Look up the opening hours for the hardware store on Main Street.”
• “Draft a reply to the customer who asked about delivery times.”

You can send photos and files with your message, and MiOSbot can send files back.

Use MiOSbot in a group chat

MiOSbot can take part in an iMessage group chat when your workspace admin allows that group.

• In a group, MiOSbot normally answers only when you mention it by name. Other group messages don’t trigger a reply.
• Each group chat has its own conversation with MiOSbot, separate from your one-to-one chat.
• Being approved for one-to-one messages doesn’t automatically let you use MiOSbot in groups. Your admin allows groups separately.

Extra iMessage features

Depending on how your workspace is set up, MiOSbot can also:

• React to a message with a tapback.
• Reply to a specific message in the chat.
• Mark your message as read and show a typing indicator while it works.

Note: If MiOSbot doesn’t answer in a group, mention it by name. If it still doesn’t answer, ask your workspace admin whether that group is allowed.
