How MiOSbot works
The ideas behind MiOSbot in plain language: sessions, folders, helpers and background work, memory, approvals, and channels.
You get the most from MiOSbot when you know how it keeps your work organized and when it stops to check with you. This page explains the main ideas. For step-by-step instructions, see the MiOSbot guides.
Sessions
A session is one conversation with MiOSbot, with its own history. Everything you said, everything MiOSbot did, and the results stay together in that session, so you can return to it later and pick up where you left off.
Each session shows its state in the sidebar. Working means MiOSbot is busy on it. Needs you means it’s waiting for your answer or approval. Finished sessions you haven’t read yet show as unread.
Keep one goal per session. When the goal or the audience changes, start a new one. You can search, pin, and archive sessions, and restore an archived one if you need it again.
Folders
Folders group related sessions so you can find them again, such as one folder for each client or each part of your business. See Sessions and folders.
Helpers and background work
Big tasks often have parts that can happen at the same time. MiOSbot can hand those parts to helpers. Each helper works in the background in its own session and reports its result back to the conversation you started, where MiOSbot puts the pieces together.
You don’t have to watch work happen. You can leave a session while it’s working and come back when it’s done. Automations go further: they run a task on a schedule, such as every morning or twice a day, without you starting it each time.
Memory
MiOSbot can remember useful facts across sessions, such as your preferences, your business details, and decisions you’ve made. It remembers what it saves; it doesn’t silently keep everything you say. To make sure something sticks, tell it directly: “Remember that our office is closed on Mondays.”
You can review what MiOSbot remembers, and ask it to forget something. It forgets only after you confirm.
Approvals
Some actions have consequences you can’t easily undo, such as sending a message to someone else, deleting something, publishing, or moving money. Before MiOSbot takes an action like that, it shows you a request that explains what it wants to do, and the session shows Needs you. You decide: allow it once, or decline. For some automation tool actions you can choose to always allow them, so MiOSbot stops asking for that action. Every decision is logged.
If you decline, or don’t answer, the action doesn’t happen. Actions that move money are handled with extra care; see Can MiOSbot spend money?.
The permission control in the message box sets how carefully a session asks before it acts. See Models, permissions, and usage.
Channels
The browser is not the only way to reach MiOSbot. Channels connect MiOSbot to places you already communicate, such as email, text messages, or team chat, when your workspace has connected them. Your workspace’s Channels settings show which ones are connected.
